Amnat: A van carrying 12 passengers was traveling from Amnat Charon, a northeastern province of Thailand, to Bangkok. They were going to celebrate the Lunar New Year. The van suddenly overturned on the side of the road and crashed. As a result of the resulting fire, the van was completely engulfed in flames. 11 passengers including two children in the vehicle were burnt to death. Only one person jumped out of the window of the van and survived with burns.

Regarding the incident, Nikom Sean, a volunteer of the disaster recovery team, said, ‘Diesel fuel and gas cylinders are used in the van involved in the accident. Preliminary investigations suggest that the fire may have been caused by gas leakage. We are investigating how the van, which was traveling on the road, went off the road. Out of the 12 people in the van, 11 people were burnt to death,’ he said.
