Dubai: An Indian man has been sentenced to one month in jail in Dubai for causing an accident by driving under the influence of alcohol. A woman’s leg was seriously injured in the accident. The accused approached the Court of Appeal against the sentence passed earlier by the Dubai Traffic Court, but the prison sentence was upheld. But the Court of Appeal reduced the fine of 20,000 dirhams imposed by the lower court to 10,000 dirhams. The order to deport the accused was cancelled.

At this time, the vehicle hit the woman who was sitting on the side of the road with her leg extended. According to the case records, the accused was intoxicated and could not see the woman. The main witness was another person who was with the accused in the vehicle. The accused stopped the vehicle when he realized that the accident had taken place. Both came out and went to the woman. The witness has stated that during this time there was a smell of alcohol on the accused’s body. After realizing that he was drunk, he instructed the accused not to drive the car.
While the person who was with him was on the phone to inform the police and the ambulance, the accused got into the vehicle again. He said to park the vehicle, but he got into the car and drove away. The police found him later and arrested him. He confessed to the crime during interrogation. Police did not release any other information about the injured woman.
