New Delhi: After the screening of BBC documentary, there is tension in JNU. Stones were thrown at the students. The students alleged that ABVP workers pelted stones. The students watched the documentary on their laptops and mobile phones as the electricity was cut off just before the screening.

Due to disconnection of electricity and internet in the student union office, the show was not shown on the big screen. Then it was seen on laptop and mobile. The stone pelting happened during the protest which was held after the exhibition. It is reported that many people were injured in the stone pelting.

Earlier, the authorities had clarified that the BBC documentary will not be allowed to be screened in JNU. The permission was denied on the grounds that the screening of the documentary would disturb the peace and harmony in the campus. It has been noticed that a group of students has released a pamphlet in the name of JNUSU that a documentary titled ‘India: The Modi Question’ will be screened on January 24, 2023 at 9 pm.

This program has not been approved by the JNU authorities. Such unauthorized activity will disturb the peace and harmony of the university campus. Students should cancel the program as soon as possible. Otherwise, disciplinary action will be taken according to the university rules’- the press release issued by the registrar stated.
