Bengaluru: Shahrukh Khan starrer Pathan released today. The film is showing on the first day in around 5000 screens across the country. At the same time, some organizations are protesting against the film. It is reported that protests took place in some parts of Karnataka, Bihar and Uttar Pradesh.

In Uttar Pradesh’s Agra, a section holding ‘Boycott Pathan’ posters tore down the film’s banners from theatres. Curry oil was poured on the posters. The incident took place in Rakabganj police station limits in Agra. Rakabganj SHO Pradeep Kumar informed that a case has been registered against six persons in this incident.

Videos of VHP (Vishva Hindu Parishad) supporters in Karnataka protesting by tearing and burning posters of the film are circulating on social media. At the same time, the VHP leadership in Maharashtra announced that it was withdrawing from the protest. The VHP leadership in Maharashtra says that this is due to changes made by the crew in the film.

Bajrang Dal, a Hindu organization, had announced the other day that there are no objections to the Pathan movie in Gujarat. At the same time, VHP’s Gujarat chief Ashok Rawal says that he will not oppose the film.

“Since Bajrang Dal came out with agitation against Hindi film Pathan. Censor board has removed bad lines and words from the movie. That is good news. Congratulations to the activists and Hindu community for this victory – VHP’s Gujarat Chief Ashok Rawal said.

Earlier this month, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) had suggested more than 10 changes in the Pathan film, including some lyrics in the song Besharam Rang. However, Deepika’s much-controversial orange dress will remain a part of the Pathan film, CBFC said.

Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone starrer Pathan has been in the news ever since its first song Besharam Rang was released. Deepika’s orange bikini in the song was criticized by a section of people. Bajrang Dal workers staged a protest in Gujarat and burnt posters and banners of the film.

At the same time, VHP and Bajrangdal say that it is the workers’ choice whether to watch this film in theaters or not. They also demand that movie goers and theater owners should be cautious about issues affecting religious sentiments in films.
