Money and a gold ring kept in a puja plate were stolen saying that there was work to be done in a house and it was being removed.
The incident took place in a house in Batticaloa.
In connection with the incident, a young female priest from Kokkaticholai area who performed the puja has been arrested by the police.

The female priest related to the incident went to a house in Batticaloa city and said that there is something to be done in that house and she will take it through her puja.
As the people in the house agreed to the puja, the puja took place.
60,000 rupees cash and a gold ring are kept at the request of the female priest in the puja.
The money on the plate and the ring are tied with a white cloth and the pooja is performed in one of the rooms.
After this, the female priest closed the door of the room and said that the door should not be opened for 10 days, saying that she would come after 10 days and open the door and take the money and the ring.
Theft of money and jewellery
After 10 days, when the people of the house called the priest, his phone number was not working, so when they opened the room and opened the cloth inside, it was revealed that the priest had stolen money and jewelry.
After a complaint was lodged with the police regarding the incident, the female priest was arrested by the Batticaloa city police.
At the same time, the police said that there are many cases where the said female priest stole money and gold ornaments by saying that she was working in many houses and would take them away.
