Warsaw: Former Portugal coach Fernando Santos will now coach Poland. Santos, 68, was sacked by Portugal after the World Cup defeat.

Santos will be the third foreign coach to coach Poland. Prior to this, Leo Beanhacker and Paolo Souza were the coaches of the Polish football team.

The Polish Football Federation stated that Santos was brought to the coaching position with the aim of the 2024 European Championship and the 2026 World Cup.

Santos is the man who achieved the best as a coach. Santos was the coach when Portugal became Euro champions in 2016. Santos was also the coach when Portugal won the 2019 Nations League title. Santos was heavily criticized for benching Portugal’s superstar Cristiano Ronaldo as a substitute in the Qatar World Cup.
