Islamabad: Pakistan pacer Wahab Riaz will take charge as the sports minister of Punjab province. Interim Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi has announced that Riyaz will be given the temporary charge of the sports department of Punjab province, where the elections will be held in three months.

Riaz, who is currently playing in the Bangladesh Premier League, will take charge soon after returning to Pakistan. Riaz is making his political entry while active in international cricket. The player has played 27 Tests, 92 ODIs and 36 Twenty20s for Pakistan and is the top wicket-taker in the Pakistan Super League with 103 wickets.
