An anti-Semitic gang severely attacked a Jewish man in Montgomery County, Maryland. The gang yelled anti-Semitic slurs at the victim during the attack, police said
An anti-Semitic man was arrested and charged with an attack on a Jewish man inside a large department store in Montgomery County, Maryland, USA. Police say the man will be prosecuted for a hate crime. The victim told police he was shopping inside the store last Wednesday afternoon when he saw a group of youths throwing fruit and stealing donuts. and decided to ask them to stop.
“The victim approached them and asked them to stop,” Montgomery County Sheriff Mark Arma said. According to the indictment, the victim told the police that the confrontation turned ugly when he unzipped his jacket in an attempt to protect himself and be more free, the anti-Semitic noticed the Star of David on his neck chain and began taunting him with anti-Semitic statements.
The group surrounded him and the suspect, later identified as Eugene Thompson, physically assaulted the victim. While being punched, the victim stated he heard the group members yell, ‘Yeah, do it for Kanye,'” the indictment said. Kanye West is an anti-Semitic singer who in recent months has been inciting the murder of Jews on every possible platform.
The victim lost consciousness, the police said. An ambulance took him to a hospital with serious, but non-life threatening injuries. Officers later arrested Thompson at a nearby McDonald’s and found the victim’s car keys in his possession, police said.
Thompson, charged with first degree assault, police said they are working with the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office on hate crime charges, suspect Thompson is being held without bond.
