There is a parking lot owned by the Corporation on Crosscut Road, Coimbatore. As the area has a lot of commercial establishments, they have been allowed to charge Rs 10 for three hours. Chandrasekhar, the contractor, had the right to maintain the parking lot and collect tolls.
However, in violation of the norms of the corporation, a fee of 20 rupees per hour was charged. In this regard, the public sent a complaint to the Corporation Commissioner Pratap along with video evidence.
Shocked, the Commissioner ordered Central Zonal Assistant Commissioner Mahesh Kanagaraj to conduct a field survey and take action.
He and Assistant Revenue Officer Karthik personally inspected and confirmed the overcharging.
Subsequently, they canceled the contract and confiscated the deposit amount. Subsequently, the Corporation took responsibility for maintaining the parking lot. A Corporation employee is appointed and fees are collected.
Similarly, the parking lots at Gandhipuram Central Bus Stand and Town Bus Stands are also being overcharged.
Here per day, 20 rupees should be charged; For 12 hours, charge Rs.10. But, 20 rupees is charged at the time of parking.
The notice board regarding fees has been removed. In this regard, they are delaying the time without taking any action without the knowledge of the Central Zone officials of the Corporation. It seems that only if you send a complaint to the commissioner, they will take action.
