The instant messaging platform, WhatsApp, has introduced a host of new features for Android and iOS beta testers, including voice status updates, block shortcuts, contact shortcuts in groups, and more. The META-owned instant messaging app also made it possible to “search by message by date” for iOS beta testers.
“Search messages by date” feature
The Search Message by Date feature helps users to find messages by specific date. It is available in WhatsApp chats and groups after users download the latest WhatsApp beta for iOS 22.24.0.77.
The latest feature applies a filter to a specific date when the user wants to locate a message that was sent or received on that date.
If a calendar icon appears in the chat box, users will be able to use the search feature in the conversation.
This means that their WhatsApp account has the feature enabled.
Here is a step by step guide on how to use the latest Search Message by Date feature of WhatsApp for iOS.
Download the latest version of WhatsApp from the Apple App Store or just update the version on your iPhone.
Open the WhatsApp app on your iOS device.
Go to the chat window in which you want to search for a message from a specific date.
Click on the recipient’s name.
Tap on the search button available below the recipient’s profile picture.
Tap on the calendar icon available at the top right corner of the search bar.
Select the month and year that you want to refer to to search the message.
When you hit go to history, WhatsApp will take you back to the selected messages from the chosen date.
WhatsApp users have the option to go to a specific date to see what messages were sent and received during a particular conversation, as well as the ability to go to the first message in a conversation.
The calendar icon will not be visible to everyone as the new feature is only accessible to a select group of WhatsApp iOS beta testers.
But with the new WhatsApp feature, users will find it easier to go to a specific date within the chat.
