TOPS
Incisive and decisive Alexis Sanchez
He multiplied defensive returns and constantly brought danger to the Monegasque defense. Alexis Sanchez (34) has proven that he is indeed a leader in the Marseille group. Little used in the first half, the ex-scorer of Barcelona, Arsenal or Inter Milan, then showed himself to his advantage. To his credit, the Chilean scored the goal (47th) which allowed OM to return to equality thanks to a recovery which deceived the Monegasque goalkeeper. He spared no effort and greatly contributed to his team’s draw.
The Monegasque first half
Monaco mastered the first act perfectly. In place defensively and tactically, Philippe Clément’s men shut down the Marseille attacks and proved to be dangerous on several occasions, like their young striker Ben Seghir (17). The jewel of the Rock brought speed, not hesitating to dezone. The half-time score in favor of Monaco was therefore not undeserved and Philippe Clément will be able to rely on his bases during the next meetings.

FLOPS
Nübel at fault
Alexander Nübel had not been worried more than that by the Marseille offensives. But on a long shot from the Portuguese Nuno Tavares, the German goalkeeper pushed the ball away without capturing it and put the ball back at Alexis Sanchez’s feet. The latter does not need to be asked and allows his team to get back into the game. A mistake with serious consequences.
The two teams awkward in front of the goal
We are not on the standards of Monaco’s last match in Ligue 1 against Ajaccio (7-1). In the first half, Ben Yedder misses a first duel by crossing his shot too much (15th) then gets a hole 15 minutes later. Facing the Marseille goalkeeper Ruben Blanco, the French international stings his ball but his shot is first countered. The ball returns to him but another failure. The Marseillais are not left out since Nuno Tavares struck eight times on goal, without success. Balerdi hit the crossbar on a header that could have been decisive.
