Kabul: The Taliban has banned girls from writing university entrance exams in Afghanistan. Last December, the Taliban regime banned girls from studying in colleges and universities. It was announced that the ban will continue till further order.

The Taliban’s policy is that girls only need to study up to the 6th standard. The Taliban Ministry of Education had issued notices to universities asking them not to allow girls to appear for entrance exams until further orders. Girls are also barred from registering for entrance exams.

The Taliban’s promise when they seized power was to implement a regime that would not be the same as in the past, respecting women and taking into account the rights of minorities. But later the world realized that all these promises were in vain.

The Taliban seized power in Afghanistan in May 2021. Until then, girls were banned from schools. It was ordered that women should not work and should not go out in public without being accompanied by their relatives. They also insisted on wearing clothes that cover the entire body and face while going out. Gyms and parks are alien to women.
