The country’s foreign exchange reserves rose by Rs 14,161 crore to Rs 47.05 lakh crore in the week ended 20th.

The Reserve Bank has further informed that:

It is noteworthy that in October 2021, the foreign exchange balance was the highest at 52.89 crore rupees.

Due to the global environment, the Reserve Bank sold more dollars to prevent the depreciation of the Indian rupee against the dollar.

Subsequently, its stock saw a decline from August 2021 levels. It is noteworthy that the foreign exchange reserves increased by Rs 1.21 lakh crore in a single week, the highest in the last year.

Gold holdings rose by Rs 6,732 crore during the assessment week to Rs 3.58 lakh crore.

This is stated in the report of the Reserve Bank.
