The study was published in the online issue of Neurology, the medical journal of the American Academy of Neurology. People with cardiovascular disease are more likely to experience memory loss, thinking problems and poor brain health in middle age, Jiang said.
3,146 participants were screened for the study. The study participants, who were 18 to 30 years old at the start, were followed for up to 30 years. According to the study, 147 participants were affected by coronary heart disease, heart attack, heart failure, carotid artery disease or peripheral arterial disease before the age of 60.
