Elangovan, a member of the Dravida Liberation Association, has built a new house in Kotdiyur Udayam Nagar, Sivagangai District. A bust of Periyar was erected in front of the house. It was announced that the statue will be inaugurated by Dravida Vimithya Kazhagam President Kolathur on 29th (i.e. yesterday). In this case, the day before yesterday, officials led by Karaikudi Tahsildar Kannan and Karaikudi Deputy Superintendent of Police (in-charge) Ganesh Kumar removed the idol saying that they should go there after obtaining proper permission. Later the statue was taken to Karaikudi Taluk office and kept safe.
In this situation, District Collector Madhusudhanreddy ordered to transfer Karaikudi Tahsildar Kannan as Sivaganga Forest Planning Officer. Likewise, Deputy Superintendent of Police Ganesh Kumar was transferred to Chennai Head Office on mandatory standby as DGP. has ordered.
