The first National Network of Dance Researchers in Mexico is created

On January 21, in response to the problems faced by dance researchers, recorded by the National Dance Councilthe first meeting of the National Network of Dance Researchers.

This project is the result of the concerns shared by the members of the group since 2018, and seeks make visible the work of these professionals, as well as jointly design “solutions, establish dialogues and agreements with different institutions”.

In this initiative, a pioneer of its kind in Mexico, 32 researchers participated representatives of 17 entities of the countryamong them Zacatecas, Querétaro, Puebla, State of Mexico, Jalisco, San Luis Potosí, Hidalgo, Michoacán, Chihuahua and Coahuilaalthough greater participation is contemplated in the future.

According to a report from the Council shared with this medium, in the session they discussed various problems that the union is facing and that, in the opinion of the participants, are still pending with the current federal government such as the scarce stimuli, remuneration, promotion of research, as well as the design of public policies based on research in the cultural and artistic sector.

Among the proposals that were the product of this session is a research repository and a research directory, as well as colloquiums at universities and a face-to-face meeting to end the year, among others.
