Xi Jinping, a man on a mission within a destiny.- Andrés González Martín
Reviewing how the Chinese Communist Party has prepared the ground to consolidate a political praxis dominated by the ideological and executive centrality of a single person —Xi Jinping— by reforming its guidelines and, at the same time, trying to intuit the meaning of this profound transformation are practical invitations. to reflect on the importance of the recomposition of power and its effects inside and outside communist China.
In a liberal democracy, the legitimacy of power does not essentially depend on its effectiveness, but on institutional control. For the CCP the order of the fundamental political equation is precisely the reverse. The unusual concentration of power, even in the People’s Republic of China, in the person of Xi responds to a unique mission within a destiny. It is, therefore, a decision more related to the expected effectiveness of power in the coming decades than to the application of a less subtle and more ideological formula for dominance.
