Inspired by the Lockheed Martin F-35 Lightning II stealth fighter, the Ford F-150 Lightning Fighter Edition electric pickup truck has been put up for charity auction to “support the men, women and families of Luke Air Force Base in Arizona.”
Created as a one-off with the help of a local Ford dealership, the vehicle went up to the winning bid with $275,000, an extremely sizable price tag compared to normal F-150 Lightning prices, with the auction being run in Scottsdale by Barrett- Jackson.
This is equivalent to just over R$ 1.4 million for a customized and 100% electric pickup, which appears in a local version, with silver paint and the finish of the regular Platinum version.
Costing more than 2.5 times the price of the F-150 Lightning Platinum at just over $96,000, the Ford F-150 Lightning Fighter Edition has “Fighter Country Foundation” badges, including fighter jet-inspired decorative stripes, sides of the cargo box.
Although the charity auction is as described, in reality it is a non-profit institution to help those who really need it and not the military, being duly well paid in the USAF, the US Air Force.
With 588 horsepower and 106.7 kgfm, the Ford F-150 Lightning Fighter Edition has 131 kWh lithium batteries with a range of 483 km, in addition to acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 4 seconds.
It is very complete, with an 18-speaker B&O Unleashed premium sound system, climate-controlled leather seats (heating and ventilation), panoramic sunroof, SYNC 4 multimedia with 15.5-inch screen, Blue Cruise semi-autonomous driving and power package for equipment and homes in emergency.
Ford’s large pickup was the first of its size to be placed on the American market and has already accumulated more than 200,000 orders there, where it is rivaled by the Rivian R1T, Chevrolet Silverado EV, Toyota Tacoma EV, GMC Sierra EV and Ram 1500 REV .
