The boy fell asleep inside the container while playing hide and seek at Chittagong port in Bangladesh and arrived 3000 km away in Malaysia’s Port Klang after 6 days. Fifteen-year-old Fahim arrived in another country after days without food or water.
Malaysian media reported that authorities found the child emaciated and crying in a container on the ship that arrived on the 17th of this month.
The staff heard a noise from inside the container. The image of the child coming out exhausted and bewildered went viral on social media. The child has recovered and is undergoing treatment. The Malaysian Ministry of Home Affairs said that the preliminary investigation revealed that it was not human trafficking.
