Pension reform: the CGT Transports calls on truck drivers to strike on Monday

by time news

The CGT will not “let go of anything” on the pension reform. In recent days, the union has called on its bases in the road transport sector to strike from January 30, in addition to the national mobilization planned for January 31.

“Our federation (the CGT Transports) proposes that the first mobilizations be built among the truckers from Monday January 30 and that all the sectors of our federal field be mobilized at a very high level on Tuesday January 31”, writes the union in a press release, published last week on Facebook.

Galvanized by the success of their first mobilization on January 19, the unions are calling for new massive demonstrations on Tuesday. The eight main French unions which, unusually, are all united against this pension reform project, are hoping for a mass effect to overcome an “unfair reform”.

But the Prime Minister was firm on Sunday on the postponement of the starting age which is “no longer negotiable”. While the reform has been widely criticized for its impact on women, Elisabeth Borne is on the other hand open to a discussion on better use of the “education” and “maternity” terms obtained during their careers.
