A storm arose this month in the US state of Georgia after the local police suspended a young police officer following a post he published on Facebook. Now, in light of the fear of dismissal and further harm, the police officer announces that he has resigned and at the same time expresses concern for other police officers who believe like him that marriage is only between a man and a woman.
At the beginning of the month, the young police officer, only 19 years old, Jacob Kersey, published a short post on Facebook in which he wrote: “God designed the institution of marriage. Marriage is related to Jesus and the church. This is why there is no such thing as marriage between homosexuals.” After the post was published, the police management received an anonymous complaint that led to the suspension of the officer, out of concern that he could not perform his work in the field without the influence of his personal opinions and in light of the fact that he refused to delete the post.
