Zelensky tells France to ban Russian athletes from 2024 Olympics

by time news

Kyiv | Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky has urged France to ban Russian athletes from competing in the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. Zelensky also protested the Committee’s (IOC) decision to allow Russian and Belarusian athletes to compete in a letter to French President Emmanuel Macron. Zelensky also announced that if this continues, the Games will be boycotted. Zelensky said the IOC’s efforts to bring Russian athletes back to the Olympic Games would cause terror.

The IOC had earlier said that no athlete should be barred from competing on account of passport. However, the President of Ukraine made it clear that neutrality in sports is impossible when athletes from his country lose their lives on the battlefield.
