The promotion of Alexander Sulzer to assistant coach of the German national ice hockey team also caused joy in the artificial ice stadium in the Sahnpark in Crimmitschau. From November 2021 to April 2022 he was assistant coach at the second division ice hockey team Eispiraten Crimmitschau. Sulzer gained his first experience as a coach in the professional business – assisting coach Marian Bazany. And quickly brought himself into conversation for higher tasks. After the 2021/22 season, he switched to the DEL team Fischtown Pinguins Bremerhaven.

“I’m very happy for Alexander Sulzer and his development,” says Eispiraten Managing Director Jörg Buschmann, who congratulated the national team’s new assistant coach on the phone on Monday. Buschmann: “He wasn’t just a figurehead for ice hockey as a player. He’s also a huge asset to German ice hockey as a coach and as a person. We’re glad we’ve had the opportunity to work with him,” says Jörg Buschmann. In the national team, Alexander Sulzer acts as an assistant to Harold Kreis. In addition to working for the German Ice Hockey Federation (DEB), the ex-defender will continue to be part of the coaching team in Bremerhaven.
