Mercato: Navas is well loaned to Nottingham Forest

by time news

Paris SG goalkeeper Keylor Navas has been loaned to Nottingham Forest until the end of the season. The English club confirmed this Tuesday, January 31 in the evening. Former Real Madrid goalkeeper for 5 seasons, with which he notably won the Champions League, Navas (36 years old, 110 caps) joined Paris in September 2019. In the capital, he won two French championship titles and was voted goalkeeper of the 2020/2021 season. The recruitment of the Italian Gianluigi Donnarumma, in the summer of 2021, changed the situation. A competition was first established, during the past financial year, between the two men. Upon his arrival, Christophe Galtier wanted to set up a hierarchy among goalkeepers. He thus formalized the number one position of the Italian, at the expense of Navas.

The latter was still in the cages of Costa Rica during the last World Cup, where La Sele was eliminated in the first round. Navas is the third signing announced on the last day of the transfer window by Forest, 13th in the Premier League with four lengths ahead of the red zone, after midfielder Jonjo Shelvey from Newcastle and Felipe, the Brazilian defender from of Atletico Madrid.

Complicated to the end

Navas’ loan was complicated until the end. As with Naples last summer, finance almost derailed his departure. Navas made no gift to the management of PSG before leaving. The two clubs had indeed reached an agreement with salary coverage of around 50% knowing that it is estimated at €1 million gross per month. Only, PSG had to fight in negotiations with a player who did not let anything pass before saying “OK, I’m leaving”. Navas is on loan until the end of the season and Paris hopes he will shine in order to sell him more easily and definitively next summer. With this departure, Sergio Rico becomes PSG’s number 2 goalkeeper. The young Lucas Lavallée (19), recruited at LOSC in 2021, will be able to integrate daily training with the professional group.
