About twenty young people with mental health problems join the project ‘PasaXT Towards Employment’
A new edition of the ‘PasaXT Towards Employment’ project begins, corresponding to the 2022 call, coordinated by the Castilla y León Mental Health Federation and financed by the ONCE Foundation, in which about twenty young people with mental health problems from five years of age participate provinces.
The project, as in previous editions, is carried out at the regional level between the months of January and May, with the participation of about twenty young people aged between between 16 and 30 years old and who have registered in the National Youth Guarantee System. “The main purpose of this type of action is focused on the recovery and empowerment of young people with mental health problemsExplain Noelia Cabreratechnician from the Employment Area of the Castilla y León Mental Health Federation.
Actions focus on provision of knowledge, skills and abilities that favor the social and labor inclusion of this group. “The main objective of the project is to discover the potential of these people, and, for this, in this new edition we will focus on promoting their transversal competences”explains Cabrera, highlighting “Online training for your application in job search”. The project will be developed at a regional level, through the entities Salamanca Mental Health, León Mental Health, in its Ponferrada delegation, FAEMA Mental Health Ávila, Prosame Mental Health Burgos and Amanecer Mental Health Segovia.
“This program merges the most effective techniques of professional reorientation, coaching and recovery, creating a method that allows these young people to be promoted towards their personal development and their professional objective”adds the technique of the program.
Regarding the structure of the process, it is divided into three distinct stages. The first one addresses the Initial assessment with actions to assess the capacities of each participant. The second consists of the development of the training action “via group sessions, job counseling and guidance, as well as information and training in transversal skills using new technologies as toolsall this combined with individualized support sessions and visits to community resources, as well as to companies in the city”Cabrera explains. In addition, practical webinars will be held to reinforce the contents of the group part.
And finally, the project will conclude with the employability assessment of the participating people. The entities’ team of professionals has developed training and individual and group interviews in order to establish an intervention plan as closely as possible to the profiles, “so that we can more precisely guarantee an optimal level of results”specify this professional.
Personal assistance figure to support participation
As already happened in previous editions of ‘PasaXT Towards Employment’, the Castilla y León Mental Health Federation details: each participating association will incorporate the teams interdisciplinary, made up of professionals from Psychology, Social Work and Labor Integration, personal assistance figure; one person in each of the five participating entities.
The figure of personal assistance represents peer support and stimulates and facilitates the self-empowerment of the participants in ‘PasaXT Towards Employment’, “intervening from the individualized attention and support to the participants, assuming in turn the tasks of monitoring and evaluation of the project”explains Noelia Cabrera.
The project is completed with the establishment of agreements and collaboration agreements with companies and entities from other sectors, “seeking their voluntary participation, participating in sessions and workshops, and contributing experience and knowledge”.
Training for professionals
Two days of employability training aimed at professional teams in the work areas of the participating entities. Specifically, it was a monographic webinar on ‘Techniques, methodologies and digital tools for employment guidance’in charge of Fundación Esplai.
