Ford Ka Quattro: rally monster with Audi S3 platform

by time news

The Ford Ka never inspired anything other than its own proposal, to be a very simple, economical and “cheap” entry-level cart. Having surfed the new age wave of the 90’s, the American brand’s subcompact now appears in a disruptive layout.

With a rally look, the Ford Ka Quattro wants to accelerate on European tracks and using a well-known platform, the PQ34 of the Audi S3, in a very strange combination, but which seems to have worked.

The first generation Ford Ka, the same one sold in Brazil, had its body removed and welded onto the platform of an Audi S3 from the late 90s.

With 2,452 m between axles, the Ka would never be able to fit in the base of the S3 without a modification, since the PQ34 had 2,519 m of base, being necessary to change the bodywork of the small Ford.

Having such discrepant dimensions, the creators of the Ford Ka Quattro inserted well curved fenders due to the width and a little more for the length of the car, with modified bumpers from the SportKa and StreetKa models, not sold here.

The result is that, even though the Ka Quattro was not a product of Autolatina or Auto Europa, better said, the anabolic look of this round Ford was interesting and preserved its style.

The idea for this project came from Wayde Evans, of Mohawk Customs in Cowbridge, UK, who still used SportKam headlights, but with LED lights, as well as adding 18-inch alloy wheels and very wide performance tires.

Based on the S3, then the Ford Ka Quattro received the EA113 1.8 20V Turbo engine in place of the old Ford Endura-E, with a Holster Hx35 turbocharger, competition bearings, a larger grille and a modified exhaust manifold.

Having a six-speed manual transmission, the Ka Quattro has a Haldex all-wheel drive system with Brembo brakes, to hold its 433 horsepower… It is probably the fastest Ford Ka in the world.
