Virat Kohli, who took over as captain in Test cricket in 2014 after the legendary Dhoni, has led the Indian team successfully in all 3 types of cricket since 2017 and has won many victories abroad. The best example of that is that Virat Kohli trained on an abandoned pitch that was challenging for batting at the beginning of 2018 before the Test series in South Africa, when other players were afraid to practice on it, former coach R Sridhar said.
He mentioned this in his autobiography as follows. “Ahead of the 2018 England tour, we were preparing for the Test series in South Africa in January. Then in South Africa we were given a ground to train in the county series. But the pitch on it was too dangerous. So we practiced on a pitch that was fairly good in the middle.”

“But the pitches on the side were far from the standard of other pitches in the Western Province in Cape Town. Virat Kohli has learned by watching that no one bats especially because it is so dangerous. He immediately put on protective gear and took me and Raghu along and told me that he wanted to bat on that pitch. But we tried to convince him not to do it.”
“However, he refused to accept it and said, “I want to train in this dangerous place. “I especially want to face Raghu’s fast balls at this venue,” he told us. He took such difficult exercises every time. That means he deliberately puts himself in stressful situations every time during training and learns how to get out of them. Having honed his skills in that way, he was also mentally brave enough to do it,” he said.
