After Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu took off today (Thursday) for Paris in order to meet with French President Emmanuel Macron and discuss with him the matters on the world agenda and especially the issue of Iran. The head of the opposition, Yair Lapid, stung on Twitter and wrote: “I understand that Netanyahu is spending the weekend in Paris. Give me a call if you need restaurant tips.”

The sting to the Prime Minister came against the backdrop of Lapid’s own flight to Paris for vacation a few weeks ago. As I recall, Lapid flew on a family vacation in Paris less than a day after Justice Minister Yariv Levin revealed the revolution he is planning in the judicial system, and while dozens of activists are protesting the bridges against the composition of the new government, following the flight in question, Lapid received many criticisms from his constituents and the left bloc.

Shortly after the sarcastic tweet of the head of the opposition, Likud responded with a sarcastic response: “It’s amazing that you’re not in Paris this weekend. As for the tips from you, we have already seen what they are worth in the last year.”

Another confrontation was recorded in the Twitter battles when a member of Lapid’s party, Vladimir Belyak, attacked the prime minister and wrote: “Lapid and his wife spent a weekend in Paris at his own expense. Netanyahu and his wife will spend, as usual, at your expense. That’s the difference.”

In response, Likud Knesset member Nissim Vatori wrote to him: “You’re right – Lapid spends time, Netanyahu works, that’s the whole difference!”
