ISL: Mumbai with the grandeur of ISL ATK

Fordorda: Reigning champions Mumbai City FC beat ATK Mohun Bagan by a huge margin in the ISL. Mumbai thrashed ATK by five goals to one. This is ATK’s first defeat in three matches. With the second win in three games, Mumbai climbed to the top of the points table while ATK finished fourth.

Mumbai led by three goals in the first half. Deepak Tangri was sent off early in the second half to give Mumbai a two – goal lead. ATK’s consolation goal was scored by David Williams.

Mumbai took the lead in the fourth minute. Vikram Singh gave Mumbai an early lead from Bipin Singh’s cross. There were no significant goal attempts from the ATK side who did not wake up from the shock of the first goal. Vikram Singh scored the second goal in the 25th minute to put ATK in the lead.

Vikram Singh’s finish from BP’s cross was like a repeat of the first goal. Vikram’s first shot was saved by Amrinder but Vikram Singh completed the double on a rebound. The referee allowed the goal despite protests from ATK players that he had fouled Amrinder. Before the end of the first half, Mumbai once again got the ball into the ATK net.

This time the scorer was Igor Angolo. Angolo scored from Kormer. After the start of the second half, ATK was frustrated when Deepak Tangri was shown a red card for a dangerous foul on Vikram Singh. Shortly afterwards, Mumbai won the toss and elected to field. ATK argued that the fall was offside but the referee allowed the goal.

Soon after, Mumbai scored their fifth goal. Bipin Singh, who scored the first two goals this time, gave Mumbai a five-goal lead with a beautiful finish. ATK reduced the deficit in the 60th minute with a goal from Williams.
