Chennai: Chief Minister Stalin visited the areas of Chennai Chemmancheri affected by heavy rains and provided relief aid to the affected people.
Chief Stalin went to the Chemmancheri area affected by the heavy rains. He ordered restoration and relief work to be carried out on a wartime basis. Yesterday he inspected the progress of rehabilitation and relief work in those areas.
At the Chemmancheri Tsunami Residence, he distributed food and relief items to people affected by the heavy rains. The Chief Minister also inspected the special medical camp set up in the area.
Medavakkam – Construction of a 9 meter wide bridge over a 70 meter wide, 13 crore rupees high bridge to drain rain water on the Cholinganallur road. He also inspected the proposed works to construct a rainwater drain at a cost of 47 crore rupees, connecting the Buckingham Canal directly from the schoolyard swamp.
When the Chief Minister visited Chemmancheri the day before yesterday, the people of Alarmelmangapuram said that rain water had accumulated in their area; Following the petition, the Chief Minister directed that rain water be diverted to the area and that essential items such as milk and food be distributed door-to-door.
Officers issued accordingly. The people of the area thanked the Chief Minister for that yesterday.
