The City of Paris has made good resolutions for 2023. The renovation of Place de la Concorde is at the top of its list, after having been postponed for a long time. The first scaffolding appeared there last week. Abandoned for too long, the large esplanade, both historic and motorway, on the borders of the Tuileries Gardens and the Champs-Élysées, is going to get a makeover. Finally, Parisians and tourists sigh: fountains with random watering, crumbling statues, abandoned sentry boxes, rostral columns attacked by rust, lampposts with broken or even missing windows, broken pavement, missing balustrades… The landscape offered by this vast space in the heart of the capital had become deplorable.
