PSG: Neymar back in training two days before the match in Marseille

by time news

The day after his 31st birthday celebrated on Saturday evening with his friends and family, Neymar still had a smile at Camp des Loges. He was, in fact, able to take part in the collective training session of the day as announced in the club’s last medical press release. Last week the Brazilian had to forfeit both league games. First that in Montpellier (1-3), Wednesday, due to muscle fatigue, then against Toulouse (2-1) Saturday following discomfort in the adductor.

As a reminder: the Brazilian had also experienced a World Cup disrupted by a sprained right ankle which had led the Parisian staff to be cautious with him since his return. We will have to see if he reacts well to this resumption of work on the ground to be able to claim a starting place at the Vélodrome this Wednesday, in the round of 16 of the Coupe de France while the meeting against Bayern, in 8th first leg of the Champions League is looming. He would then support Lionel Messi who, against Toulouse, also in the absence of Kylian Mbappé, who is still treating his injury to the left thigh, had to carry the team on his own.

In Marseille, Christophe Galtier can also count on the return of Marco Verratti. The Italian midfielder has also missed the last two games due to suspension following his red card received against Reims.

Another presence this Monday on the lawns of the Camp des Loges: that of Presnel Kimpembe. The right side had also resumed the collective sessions, in a partial way, last Thursday after a long unavailability following his injury to the Achilles tendon, in November. Sergio Ramos, victim of an adductor contracture in Montpellier, was also due to resume collective training at the start of the week.

Finally Renato Sanches, who relapsed on Saturday against Toulouse, victim of a new muscular problem in the left thigh, will be out of the next PSG meetings.

Note that François Letexier will be the referee of the match in Marseille for which the Parisian supporters have again been banned from traveling.
