New POCO X5 and X5 PRO, the best mid-range of 2023?

by time news

They could be the best mid-range terminals this year. Both for design and for performance, which of course are up to the most demanding users. For starters, the new POCO X5, both the ‘normal’ and the Pro, arrive with 5G connectivity, not bad for devices that do not exceed, respectively, 300 and 400 euros. Yes, it is true that the sub-brand of Xiaomi It continues to launch 4G smartphones on the market, but the decision to bet on maximum connectivity in the new range demonstrates the firm’s commitment to the latest technologies. That the implementation of 5G is not being as fast as expected? It doesn’t matter. Let’s have the terminals ready, so that when users arrive they are properly prepared. And even more if that is achieved without the price skyrocketing.

X5 PRO, luxury specifications

Let’s start with the Pro model, specifically with its screen. We are facing a 6.67-inch ‘Flow AMOLED’. In other words, a light and flexible screen, which makes it possible to make phones that are thinner (the X5 Pro is only 7.9mm thick) and lighter (181g). The refresh rate is 120 Hz, the brightness up to 1,200 nits, the color depth of 10 bits (1,000 million colors) and it has Dolby Vision. Of course, it is protected against bumps and scratches by Corning Gorilla Glass 5. A quality, therefore, excellent in all aspects. The screen also has a 1,920 Hz PWM dimming system, a reading mode that protects our eyes when we use the terminal at night or in low light.

108 megapixel camera

Of course, such a screen needs good cameras to fill it with quality content. No sooner said than done. The main camera is 108 megapixels, which allows you to obtain images with a great wealth of details. It is enough to photograph, for example, a landscape, and then enlarge the different areas of the image to have several partial photographs but of very good quality.

The main sensor is accompanied by an 8-megapixel ultra-wide angle and 120-degree viewing angle and a 2-megapixel macro lens. The front camera is 16 megapixels.

The chosen processor, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 778 G, made with 6 nanometer technology, offers the necessary power for really fast camera processing: 41% more than previous models for settings, 69% more for photos and 38% more for night mode. Of course, it allows the recording of videos in 4K quality.

The chip, which in Antutu reaches an excellent score of 545,093, guarantees the necessary power to move any application that we want to run on the mobile while also effectively reducing energy consumption.

In the POCO X5 Pro 5G, the processor can be accompanied by 6 or 8 GB of Ram memory and 128 or 256 GB for storage, depending on the version chosen.

The 5,000 milliamp battery comes with a 67 W fast charging system, which allows a full charge (from 0% to 100%) in 46 minutes. The charger is included in the box. The terminal, available as of today, comes in three colors: black, blue and yellow, and its price is 349.99 euros in its 6 GB + 128 GB configuration and 399.99 euros if we prefer 8 GB + 256 GB.

POCO X5 5G

With a very similar appearance to the Pro model, (same dimensions and same weight) the new POCO X5 5G presents, however, some differences with its ‘big brother’. The screen, for example, despite being AMOLED, having the same size (6.67 inches), the same resolution and the same refresh rate, does not include Flow technology and is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3, instead of 5. .

Also different is the processor (in this case a Qualcomm Snapdragon 695) less powerful but sufficient, and the ‘lower’ main camera from the 108 megapixels of the Pro model to 48 megapixels, while the front camera remains at 13 megapixels. The battery is the same, 5,000 milliamps, but fast charging is reduced to 33 W, although the charger is still included in the box. The terminal, in black, green and blue colors, is now available.

As for prices, they start at 299 euros for the 6 GB version and go up to 349 for the model with 8 GB + 256 GB
