3 years imprisonment for former Registrar of Deeds Department

Marudachalam (age 70) belongs to Saibaba Colony, Coimbatore. He retired as District Registrar in Karur District Deeds Department. In this situation, it was complained that Marudachalam added more property to his income. Coimbatore anti-bribery police registered a case in this regard on 7-3-2003. During the investigation, it was revealed that he had bought more properties from 1998 to 2002. It is said that more than Rs. 23 lakh 51 thousand 916 income has been added through this. That means 299 percent more income accumulation, the investigation found. 22 witnesses were examined by the government in this case. Special Judge S. Indulatha, who heard the case in the Coimbatore CJM Court, sentenced the accused Marudachalam to 3 years imprisonment and a fine of Rs. 50,000.
