New Delhi: The Election Commission has announced that the Edappadi Palaniswami team will be given the double leaf symbol in the Erode East by-election. The Supreme Court, hearing the interim petition filed by Edappadi Palaniswami seeking allocation of the double leaf symbol in the Erode East by-election, said, ‘AIADMK’s general body will decide the candidate of the AIADMK in the Erode East by-election. It had been ordered on the 3rd that after finalizing it, the leader of the party Tamil Mahan Usain will report the decision to the Election Commission. After this, the AIADMK general committee informed all the members through a round report. That would include O. Panneerselvam and his supporters.
In this situation, AIADMK leader Tamil Mahan Usain, who went to Delhi, filed detailed documents in the Election Commission yesterday. He then told the reporters, “KS Thennarasu has been selected as the official candidate of AIADMK in the Erode East constituency by-election”. Following this, Edappadi Palaniswami’s supporter CV Shanmugam MP said, “The total number of members of AIADMK is 2665”. . 19 people, including 2 people who have gone to alternative parties and 15 people who have died, will not be able to vote. Hence 2646 people are eligible to vote. Based on that, AIADMK general committee nominated KS Thennarasu as the election candidate of Erode East assembly constituency for the approval of the president.
Applications for its approval were sent in person, through WhatsApp, email and by express post and registered post. After this, a total of 2501 members of the General Assembly have given their approval to make the Southern government a candidate. Based on that, we have requested the Election Commission to declare KS Thennarasu as the official candidate of AIADMK in the Erode by-election. It is expected that the Election Commission, which will consider it, will soon send the final order to the State Election Officer.
In this situation, the Election Commission has issued a notification allotting the double leaf symbol to the Edappadi team in the Erode East by-election. In a letter sent by the Election Commission to the Electoral Officer of Erode East constituency, the Election Commission has considered and accepted the forms signed by the party’s president, Tamil Makan Usayn, for the ADMK candidate. This order is applicable only for Erode East assembly by-election. After a long struggle, the Edappadi team got the double leaf symbol.
