The boards of São Paulo Futebol Clube and Sociedade Esportiva Palmeiras jointly come to the public to celebrate the success of the operation that made it possible to hold the classic on Saturday (04) at Estádio do Morumbi.
After an extensive inspection, accompanied by technical representatives from both clubs, throughout the public and staff circulation area of Cícero Pompeu de Toledo, no significant damage was found to the stadium’s premises.
In the evaluation of the Presidencies of both associations, the positive balance of the event contributes so that, in the future, the state classics will be played again with the presence of two supporters.
“Football from São Paulo is victorious after this weekend. São Paulo and Palmeiras show that peaceful coexistence between historic rivals is possible, leaving the fierce competition only on the field in the games between the teams. We want this moment to be a milestone for football in São Paulo.
We also understand that sport should be seen as entertainment and leisure. We will continue working for the good of Brazilian football and to strengthen the clubs”, said Julio Casares, president of São Paulo FC.
“The rivalry must be restricted to the field of play. Outside of it, clubs have common interests and need to work collectively in search of improvements for the football industry. If we want to transform Brazilian football into a more attractive product for everyone, civility and respect must prevail at all times”, said Leila Pereira, president of Palmeiras. “I would like to thank the board of directors of São Paulo, for the way we were received at Morumbi, and the Palmeiras fans, for the exemplary behavior shown in the home of a rival.”
The clubs are also grateful for the support and involvement of the Military Police, the Paulista Football Federation and other competent authorities, which were essential for the event to be successful.
