Reverse wireless charging, meaning the possibility of wireless charging of various accessories placed on the phone itself, is certainly not an innovative or unusual feature in the Android segment – but it does not yet exist in any of Apple’s iPhone models. The company actually considered it, back in the days of the iPhone 11, but it seems that a combination of problems in the development of the hardware and the software prevented Apple from launching the technology that most of its competitors had already introduced a long time ago.
But according to a new report, Apple still hasn’t given up on the technology completely. The company even believes that it will be possible to finally solve all the problems and integrate it into the iPhone 15 series. The company even recently registered several patents referring to the possibility that one iPhone device could charge another iPhone device, and even a combination of the wireless charging surfaces on the iPad and MacBook computers .
In the end, it is likely that the version that Apple will finally launch – if it does happen – will mainly be used to charge the AirPods or the Apple Watch in emergency situations where there is no outlet around. It is quite possible that Apple’s plans are integrated with the intention of making the MagSafe standard a global and open standard, and the reverse wireless charging feature will already be compatible with the new Qi2 standard and thus will support a wider range of accessories with a magnetic connection.
