The late Lt. Michelle Persht is the officer who was killed yesterday in an accident on Route 4103, near the Beit Elazari settlement in Shefala, in which another 43-year-old woman, a mother of four from Rehovot, was killed. Another female soldier was slightly injured. The late Persht, 23 years old from Be’er Sheva, served in a maintenance squadron at the nearby Tel Nof air force base as a planning, supervision and production officer.
A classmate eulogized her: “My heart hurts, my head can’t understand and digest what happened. As a classmate you were an example and a role model, you pushed us all forward by saying that we never managed to pass you on the test. You always remained humble and a person who was fun to be around. No I can understand that I am writing an obituary for you. Thank you for everything, Michelle.”
Libby Shulman, her close friend, said: “We met in the ninth grade and from the beginning she was the quietest and most modest girl in the class. She excelled in everything she touched. She pushed everyone to be the best. We all enlisted and she chose the reserve track. She just finished her degree and entered to the position in Tel Nof. She started to blossom. We followed to see how she succeeds and progresses, it’s a terrible loss for all of us. How the most charming girl was taken. She was supposed to devour the world.”

The traffic accident examiners who arrived at the scene of the incident, began investigating the circumstances of the fatal accident and collecting findings from the scene. An IDF spokesman said that the IDF shares in the family’s grief and will continue to accompany her.
Emergency medicine medic at MDA Aden Sinai and senior medic Gil Masherki said: “This is a very serious car accident between three vehicles. A young woman about 20 years old was trapped in one of the vehicles in the center of the road while she was unconscious with a multi-system injury. We performed medical tests and had to determine her death. The driver of another vehicle that was in an open area near the road was caught while she was unconscious. She was rescued during life-saving medical treatment that included anesthesia and breathing. The driver of the third vehicle, a 25-year-old woman who was walking at the scene, was taken to the hospital by MDA ambulance in a minor condition.”
