by time news

Time.news – Pio d’Emilia, a journalist who has been sent to Asia for over thirty years and currently correspondent for East Asia for SkyTg24, has died. The news was given by another correspondent, Nico Piro of Rai, who wrote on his Facebook page: “Goodbye to Pio d’Emilia, great correspondent, extraordinary connoisseur of the Far East, dear friend, revolutionary, champion and infinite glorious leader. will miss you”.

Many Japan enthusiasts will remember him for having participated in the ‘Tourists by chance’ show as an “escort”. But above all for having followed the story of the nuclear accident of March 2011 in Japan by making the docufilm ‘Fukushima, a nuclear story’.

More recently, he has broadened his interests to China, where last year he made a documentary for Sky Atlantic entitled: ‘Yi dai, Yi lu, the Silk Railway’.
