The Border-Gavaskar Trophy was awarded to the winners of the India-Australia Test series in 1996-97. 15 series were held under this trophy. India won nine series and Australia five. One is tied.

Kohli’s own Australia

Virat Kohli is the only Indian batsman to score four centuries in a Test series in Australia. This was in 2014-15. Kohli scored 692 runs in that series. This is also the most runs scored by an Indian batsman in a series against Australia. Virat Kohli is the only captain to score two centuries in Australia. Kohli is the second Indian batsman to score centuries in both innings in Australia. Scores of 115 and 141 in Adelaide on debut as captain. Vijay Hazare is the first batsman to achieve this feat. The second Test held in Kolkata in March 2001 is a milestone in the history of India-Australia cricket. Despite having to follow on that day, India won the match by 171 runs. -Sachin Tendulkar is the most capped player in the India-Australia Test series with 39. He scored 3630 runs with eleven centuries. Apart from Tendulkar, only England’s Jack Hobbs and David Gower have scored more than 3000 against Australia.
