Following a complaint from Addictions Francethe French justice has issued a ruling that obliges Instagrama social network that is part of the conglomerate of Metato withdraw the “illicit advertising” of alcoholic beverages made by at least twenty influencers from that country.

The ruling concerns 37 publications that were seen by more than five million users of Instagram. The contents covered by the court decision are no longer accessible through the address (URL) indicated in the court ruling, as verified by the AFP news agency.

According to its spokespersons, “for 18 months”, the Addictions France association “contacts content creators who present alcohol brands” to remove their content incompatible with the Evin law, which since 1991 has strictly limited advertising for alcoholic beverages .

The verdict also orders Meta to provide Addictions France with the real identity of the ‘influencers’ in question, including their name, date and place of birth and telephone number.

Among the content withdrawn are the photos published by the influential Renan Pacheco (more than 600,000 followers) in which he appears with a cocktail made with an alcohol —whose brand he mentions— and the bottle of that drink.
