“Back from the dead”: an 82-year-old woman was taken to burial and was found breathing in a funeral home

by time news

Last week, an 82-year-old woman was pronounced dead at Water’s Edge Nursing Center in New York, USA, but a few hours later she was found alive by funeral home workers.

The death of the elderly woman, whose name was not published, was determined at 12:30 in the afternoon when half an hour later she was evacuated from the institution where she had lived for the past few years. At 2:09 p.m., the 82-year-old was found to be breathing and was taken to the hospital with no update on her condition other than the fact that she was not dead, as the nursing home initially believed.

The local police confirmed the incident and the investigation is now in the hands of the state attorney’s office. The state’s health department, which is now responsible for the case, said that they cannot give details at this stage. ABCNews reported that the nursing home did not respond out of “respect for the privacy of the elderly woman and her family.”
