Sensex up 378 points | Sensex ends with 378 points up

Mumbai: Indian stock markets closed on a positive note on Wednesday. The Sensex was up 378 points (0.63 per cent) at 60,664. Meanwhile, the Nifty rose 150 points (0.85 per cent) to 17,872 on the national bourse.

Today’s trading in the stock markets started on a positive note. As of 09:58 am, the Sensex was up 412.59 points at 60,698.63. The NSE Nifty rose 119.50 points to 17,841.00.

The Reserve Bank of India’s Monetary Policy Committee released its report today. Accordingly, the RBI has increased the repo rate by 25 basis points and raised the interest rate to 6.5 percent. Although this was an expected rise, Indian stocks ended a two-day decline with gains in metal and gas stocks.

By the end of the trading session, the Sensex was up 377.75 points at 60,663.79. Meanwhile, the Nifty rose 150.20 points to 17,871.70 on the National Stock Exchange.

In terms of individual stocks, the gainers were Reliance Industries, Wipro, Tata Motors, Titan Company ITC, Titan Company, ITC, M&M, Asian Paints, HDFC, Nestle India, Tata Steels. Hindustan Unilever, L&T shares fell.
