Bulawayo: The first Test between West Indies and Zimbabwe was a draw.

The first Test between Zimbabwe and West Indies took place in Bulawayo. West Indies 447/6 (‘Declare’) and Zimbabwe 379/9 (‘Declare’) in the first innings. At the end of the fourth day, the West Indies team scored 21/0 in the 2nd innings.

On the fifth day, the game was played. Captain Craig Brathwaite (25) and Tagore’s Chanderbal (15) gave West Indies a modest start. Ramon Riber (58) and Jermaine Blackwood (57) helped, the West Indies team scored 203 runs for 5 wickets in the 2nd innings and ‘declared’. Wellington Masakadza took 3 wickets and Brad Evans 2 wickets for Zimbabwe.

Then, starting the 2nd innings with a challenging target of 272 runs to win, the Zimbabwean team had scored 134 runs for 6 wickets at the end of the game. After this the match was declared as ‘Draw’. Kudakesh Mody took 4 wickets for West Indies.

The second and final test was on Feb. Starting in Bulawayo on the 12th.

West Indies’ Tagore’s Chander Paul won the man of the match award.
