Awarded the siding project for 750 trains from La Placa, in Ponferrada
The Ponferrada City Council has awarded Inse Rail the technical assistance contract for the preparation of the project for the future 740-meter train siding to be built at the future Intermodal Logistics Platform in La Placa.

This siding will be the first planned action of the future Intermodal Logistics Platform, a communication node that will connect traffic from Atlantic ports to Europe.
The works awarded to Inse Rail have an execution period of twelve months, and include the demand study, the analysis and the catalog of the existing buildings in the area of action, the functional study, the basic project and the execution project, in addition of the environmental reports necessary for the authorization by Adif of the connection of the railway siding to the General Interest Railway Network and its subsequent execution.
This infrastructure will improve a railway facility currently in disuse and will serve the future Ponferrada intermodal platform. The works will be carried out in the area called La Placa, in the Municipality of Ponferrada, next to the Adif logistics facility in the city and the León – La Coruña line.
In March 2021, the Ministry of Development and the Environment of the Junta de Castilla y León and the Mayor’s Office of Ponferrada signed the protocol to coordinate the design and execution of the project for this platform. This first phase has the support of European CEF funds, 415,000 euros, out of a budget of 830,000 euros, to carry out the works of the future intermodal terminal.
