Earlier today, the Sigma company launched a fast prime lens from the Art series – the Sigma 50mm f/1.4 DG DN Art, which joins four other f/1.4 lenses from the series and establishes Sigma as one of the leaders when it comes to fast prime lenses on the market.
Sigma 50mm f/1.4 DG DN Art
After launching 20, 24, 35 and 85 mm lenses from the Art series for mirrorless cameras with FF cover, now it’s the turn of the 50 mm lens. This gives Sigma an advantage over Tamron and actually over Sony itself in terms of offering fast prime lenses.
The new lens has a high-response linear actuator or HLA motor that was first launched with the 60-600 mm lens from the sports series that will hit the market soon. This is the first time that Sigma integrates the motor with this technology in the Art series and thus this lens is different from the rest of its sisters.
The lens has an optical structure with 14 elements in 11 groups with 3 aspherical elements and a single SLD element. It has 11 aperture blades, is sealed against dust and water and with an aperture ring with De-click option as well as a programmable button and a sun visor with a locking button.
