Making the bed, doing the dishes, mopping your floor, … There are nicer things to do, but you kill two birds with one stone. Because those who perform household chores move. And that consumes more calories than you think. Washing windows for half an hour and then sweeping dust for fifteen minutes burns the equivalent of two Brie crackers, for example. Who needs a gym anymore?!
A tidy head in a tidy head, they say. And that’s right: we all know how good it feels when our home is spic and span. According to researchers at Oxford, a clean, tidy home creates positive emotions such as peace and contentment.
But the activity of tidying up is also good for you: it reduces feelings of stress and anxiety and helps you take control of your own life. It may even help reduce symptoms of depression and fatigue.
Both mental and physical benefits

The American cleaning service Homeaglow conducted an extensive study and collected data from professionals who wore Fitbits as they cleaned five houses each. The researchers reveal how much you burn per task, and what you should eat instead.
