MSC installs secure container identification system

The maritime operator MSC has installed a container collection system based on your identification and biometric data, with which it replaces your pin code. Previously, the Swiss shipping company has tested this system in the terminal it manages in the Belgian port of Antwerp in collaboration with Van Moer Logistics.

The Swiss group anticipates that this functionality will optimize security throughout the supply chain thanks to the scanning of each carrier’s pass, the biometric data and the entry reference at the terminal of each truck. In this way, the operator makes the entire collection process safer and more efficient.

This is an initiative that has been developed within the company for five years, but is now in the final phase of its deployment, with which it will allow a safe process and 100% free of pin codes for the release of containers.

As of June 1, it will no longer be possible to remove a container in this Belgian port terminal with a pin code. According to MSC, the integration of this technology will increase the security of operators and cargo throughout the supply chain.

On the other hand, most of the boxes of bananas exported by Ecuador left the country thanks to MSC, which had a 25.93% share, while second place went to Maersk with a 19.99% share of the total exported.
