Thiruvalla: Four accused have been remanded in custody in connection with the murder of CPM leader PB Sandeep Kumar in Thiruvalla. Jishnu, Nandu and Pramod were arrested from Karuvatta in Alappuzha. The accused were taken to the Thiruvalla Pulikkeezhu station. A hartal was called by the CPM in the Thiruvalla area to protest the murder.

Twenty – three – year – old Jishnu, his friend Pramod, Nandu and Faisal, a native of Kannur, are the main accused in the case. He was arrested within hours of the murder. The Home Department paid special attention to this case.

There are indications that others may have been arrested for helping the accused escape. It is learned that the main accused Jishnu had a previous feud with the slain Sandeep. Jishnu’s mother worked on a temporary basis at Travancore Sugars and Chemicals, a rum production center in Thiruvalla under the Beverages Corporation. There are indications that there were slight problems with the issue of Sandeep Kumar trying to lose it.

The murder took place around 8pm on Thursday night. The attack took place near a boulder half a kilometer away from Nedumbaram Chathankarimukku. Sandeep, who was riding his bike, was followed by a group of six men on three bikes who stopped and attacked him.

It is learned that Sandeep was stabbed in the neck and chest and jumped into a nearby field to save his life. The group withdrew after creating an atmosphere of terror in the area. Sandeep was rushed to a hospital in Thiruvalla but could not be rescued.

The CPM claimed that the RSS was behind the murder. District Secretary KP Udayabhanu said. However, the BJP has denied any involvement in the incident. District President VA Sooraj said.
