Disney gets involved: is the beloved amusement park “Disneyworld” on its way to closing?

Ron DeSantis said at a press conference he held: “Disney needs to stop its self-control from now on. There’s a new sheriff in town and that’s exactly what it’s going to be.” Under the proposed legislation supported by DeSantis and state Republicans, the governor would have the authority to appoint the new five-person board of directors for the special district, which would be renamed the Central Florida Tourism Control District.

Just before the new bill, DeSantis tried to make a move in which he would also close the park himself, but in the end it was dropped, for now. Disney will be required to comply with state regulations within the district.
